In this career called Life, I have been endowed with a major entrepreneurial spirit. My expertise in business management, marketing skills, and long term local relationships make real estate a natural career extension. I have been a Lakeland resident since 1988, and have bought and sold real estate all over Florida.

After attending the University of California Berkeley, with a major in organic chemistry, I served in the US Army with the 5th Special Forces Group in Vietnam.

I have traveled extensively in Asia with stints in Hong Kong, Australia, Japan, Singapore and the Philippines. I have lived in San Francisco, Chicago, Washington DC, Atlanta, the Piedmont Carolinas, and of course, Florida.

During my career as an entrepreneur, I spent over twenty years in the newspaper business. I grew a local paper into a chain of 12 newspapers in Florida and South Carolina, which was later purchased by the group that owns the Chicago Sun-Times. In that era, I served as President of the Florida Press Association and was appointed the State of Florida Chairman of the National Newspaper Association.

During this period, my partner and I built a chain of bowling centers in Atlanta, Valdosta GA, Jacksonville Beach and Lakeland. This led to my interest in the food service business, and my wife and I built a small chain of restaurants in Florida.

I have always been interested in environmental issues. Having owned a farm with beef cattle, soy beans, and timber in South Carolina, and maintaining a second home in Florida since 1972, I was appointed by the Secretary of the Interior as one of the commissioners of the Canaveral National Seashore here in Florida and I was instrumental in preserving over 60 thousand acres of pristine Florida beaches & habitat, which is now a national park. I also served on the Board of Directors of the Volusia County Business Development Corporation and President of the Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce.

My love of nature and animals developed into lifestyle interests including large breed dog rescue & tournament sport fishing in the Bahamas. I also spent a year in the Dominican Republic diving for Spanish treasure ships out of Puerto Plata.

My wife and I have grown our roots in Lakeland. I am fortunate to have been blessed with the opportunity to work side by side with best friend, my wife.
